MEP Maria Walsh Leads Negotiations for €175 Billion EU Research Fund

Midlands North West MEP Maria Walsh has been appointed as the lead negotiator for the European People’s Party concerning Horizon Europe, the largest funding programme in the European Union dedicated to research and innovation. This role positions Walsh as the rapporteur on the Agriculture Committee’s perspective regarding the programme’s future direction and funding for the period spanning 2028 to 2034.

The upcoming funding cycle proposes a significant increase, with the envelope nearly doubling to €175 billion, compared to the current programme.
