Fresh Rain Warnings for Three Counties Amid Promised Sunshine
URGENT UPDATE: Three counties in Ireland are under renewed rain warnings this weekend, with a yellow alert issued by Met Éireann from midnight on Sunday, March 1 until midnight on Monday, March 2. Galway, Mayo, and Kerry residents should brace for heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding and hazardous travel conditions.
This fresh weather alert comes after an already challenging winter marked by extreme rainfall and flooding across the country. Many areas have experienced conditions that feel more like winter than the start of spring, with sporadic sunshine providing little relief.
According to the latest forecasts, Saturday will start with some sunshine in the north and northeast. However, expect cloudier conditions and showery rain to move into Munster and western Connacht by afternoon. The southeast may remain drier, with temperatures reaching between 6C to 10C.
As the weekend progresses, rain and mist will become more widespread, especially in southern and western counties. The day will end with temperatures between 10C to 11C, but the rain is expected to clear overnight, paving the way for a drier start to the week.
Sunday will kick off dull and breezy, with continued rain and coastal fog. As conditions worsen, southern and western counties may experience heavier downpours, leading to potential spot flooding. The forecast indicates low temperatures of 2C to 6C overnight.
In a promising turn, Monday is projected to bring a break from the rain, starting off largely dry with sunny spells. While some showers are expected later due to increased cloudiness, much of the southeast may remain dry, with daytime temperatures rising to between 9C to 12C.
After a chilly start to the week, Tuesday will continue the trend of dry and sunny conditions, with temperatures reaching 10C to 12C. While scattered showers may emerge in the latter half of the week, the overall outlook suggests a significant improvement in weather conditions as spring approaches.
Residents are urged to stay updated on weather alerts and prepare for possible travel disruptions due to adverse conditions. This weekend’s rainfall could impact local communities, highlighting the need for caution and readiness as the weather shifts.
Stay tuned for updates as conditions develop, and share this information with others to ensure everyone is informed about the changing weather.
