Sex Pistols Confirm Irish Tour Date for 50th Anniversary Celebration
BREAKING: The Sex Pistols have just announced a highly anticipated tour across the UK and Ireland to celebrate 50 years of punk. Kicking off on December 7, 2023, at Dublin’s 3Arena, this tour promises to be a must-see event for rock fans.
The iconic band, known for their rebellious spirit and groundbreaking music, will perform alongside Frank Carter, renowned for his work with Gallows and Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes. The tour will include stops at key venues: Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange on December 9 and Glasgow’s O2 Academy on December 10, culminating in two electrifying nights in London—one at the O2 Academy Brixton on December 18 and a final show at Eventim Apollo on December 20.
Formed in 1975, the Sex Pistols changed the music landscape with hits like “God Save The Queen” and “Anarchy In The UK.” Their music is synonymous with the punk movement, known for its raw energy and defiance against societal norms. Although the band disbanded in 1978, they have continued to influence generations of musicians.
Reflecting on the early days of the band, drummer Paul Cook shared, “It was like a commando raid. We just turned up and set up. The message was simple—get out there and do whatever you want.” This spirit of rebellion is set to ignite once again as the band takes the stage.
The Sex Pistols reunited last year for select performances, but frontman John Lydon, also known as Johnny Rotten, did not participate, following a high-profile legal battle regarding the use of their music in the Disney+ series “Pistol.” Despite past tensions, Cook and guitarist Steve Jones expressed their excitement for the upcoming shows. Cook stated, “People want to come and see us play live. If I must say so myself, we are a great live band.” Jones added, “If it ain’t fun, I ain’t doing it. I’m too old for bullshit.”
In addition to the December tour, the band will perform summer shows at notable venues, including The Piece Hall in Halifax on July 11, 2023, Castlefield Bowl in Manchester on July 12, Cardiff Castle on August 1, and Scarborough Open Air Theatre on August 2.
With tickets expected to sell out quickly, fans are urged to secure their seats as this iconic band embarks on their historic tour. This event is not just a concert; it is a celebration of punk history and the enduring legacy of the Sex Pistols.
Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t miss your chance to witness this legendary band live!
