Barron Trump Calls UK Police After Witnessing Assault on Video
In a significant court case in London, Barron Trump, the youngest son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, reportedly contacted the City of London Police in the early hours of January 18, 2025, after witnessing an alleged assault on a video call. The emergency call has become a focal point in the trial of Matvei Rumiantsev, a 22-year-old Russian man charged with multiple offences, including assault, strangulation, and rape against his former partner.
The details of Mr. Trump’s call were revealed during a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court. According to reports, the emergency call was placed at 2:23 AM London time, where Mr. Trump described the situation as a “real emergency.” He informed the police operator that he had just witnessed a woman being assaulted via video call, providing her name and address as well as details about the incident.
During the call, the police operator sought clarification on Mr. Trump’s relationship with the woman, to which he responded, “I don’t think these details matter, she’s getting beat up.” The call handler pressed for more information, leading to a somewhat tense exchange. Mr. Trump later expressed regret for being perceived as rude, stating, “She’s getting really badly beat up and the call was about eight minutes ago; I don’t know what could have happened by now.”
Witness testimony indicated that the woman, who has not been named due to her status as a victim of alleged rape, described Mr. Trump’s call as a lifesaver. She testified, “He helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment.” The court heard that Mr. Trump had previously communicated with the woman through social media, emphasizing their close relationship.
Prosecutors have presented Mr. Trump’s emergency call as critical evidence in the trial. Additionally, he sent a formal witness statement to the police in May 2025, reiterating his concern for the woman’s safety and detailing his experience during the video call.
Mr. Rumiantsev, who denies all charges, provided his account in court, asserting that the woman had been aggressive towards him on the night in question. He claimed that he answered the call from Mr. Trump in an effort to make her realize her behavior was unreasonable.
The trial has also revealed that prior to Mr. Trump’s call, the woman had attempted to contact the police twice but was unable to provide complete details before the calls were interrupted. Following Mr. Trump’s call, police arrived at the woman’s residence, where she identified him as the caller.
In addition to the current charges related to the January incident, Mr. Rumiantsev faces accusations of a previous assault and rape in November 2024. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including an additional count of attempting to “pervert the course of justice” by allegedly pressuring the woman to withdraw her accusations.
The trial is ongoing, and further testimonies are expected to shed more light on the events in question. As the case unfolds, the role of Mr. Trump’s intervention continues to be a pivotal element of the prosecution’s narrative. The White House has not commented on the situation, and Mr. Trump is not expected to testify in person.
This incident raises significant questions about the impact of witnessing violence and the actions individuals may take in response. The court proceedings will likely explore these themes further as they continue.
