Filming for an episode of the renowned German travel show Wunderschön has recently taken place along the stunning Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland. Supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland, the episode aims to showcase the country’s breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and famed hospitality to millions of viewers in Germany.

The production crew explored numerous picturesque locations in their quest to capture the essence of Ireland. In County Clare, they filmed at iconic sites such as the Cliffs of Moher and Hazel Mountain Chocolate. The crew also highlighted the vibrant atmosphere at McGann’s Pub in Doolin, where they filmed a lively Irish folk music session.

In County Galway, filming included visits to Dunguaire Castle, Micil Distillery, and a demonstration featuring Connemara ponies at Diamond’s Equine Renvyle. The crew also captured the beauty of Kylemore Abbey, showcased The Irish Dance Experience with Siobhan Manson, a former lead dancer with Riverdance, and attended a sheepdog demonstration at Killary Sheep Farm.

The filming extended to County Mayo, where the crew took a scenic walk with Irish Wolfhounds along Bertra Beach, located on Achill Island. They also visited Westport House, adding to the diverse experiences featured in the episode.

Nadine Lehmann, Manager of Tourism Ireland for Germany, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “We were delighted to invite the crew from Wunderschön to come and film on our beautiful island,” she stated. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase the landscapes, experiences, and characters which make Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way such a great place to visit. Our aim is to inspire viewers of the show to come and experience Ireland for themselves.”

Tourism Ireland views publicity initiatives like this as vital for encouraging travel to the country. The show is part of a broader strategy designed to inspire potential tourists about what Ireland has to offer for holidays in 2025 and beyond. The airing of this episode on WDR, a public television network in Germany, is expected to significantly increase interest in Ireland as a travel destination.
