Two Teenagers Die in Fatal Road Collision in Donegal
Two teenagers tragically lost their lives in a road traffic accident in County Donegal on the night of February 24, 2026. The collision involved a lorry and a car near St. Johnston, occurring around 23:15 local time. Emergency services rushed to the scene, where one male passenger was pronounced dead at the location, while another passenger was transported to Altnagelvin Hospital but later succumbed to injuries.
The driver of the car also received medical attention at Altnagelvin Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for further treatment. Fortunately, no other individuals were reported injured in the crash.
Investigation Underway
In the aftermath of the incident, An Garda Síochána has initiated an investigation and is appealing for witnesses. The R236 road remains closed as forensic collision investigators conduct a thorough examination of the site. Local authorities have established diversions for traffic in the area.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána stated, “The R236 road is currently closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place.” They emphasized the importance of gathering information from the public, particularly from road users who may have been in the vicinity between 22:45 and 23:45 on the night of the crash.
