United Airlines has unveiled new benefits for its MileagePlus® credit and debit cardholders, significantly enhancing the value of holding these cards. Effective from April 2, 2024, cardholders can now earn up to twice as many miles on United flights compared to non-cardholders, alongside exclusive discounts on award tickets and special access to premium seat inventory.

Starting with the purchase of tickets on or after the designated date, primary United MileagePlus cardholders will earn an impressive total of up to 17 miles per dollar spent on eligible United flights when using their United ClubSM card. This earning potential is among the strongest in the airline industry. For instance, members of the MileagePlus® 1K® program will benefit the most from this new structure.

In addition to increased mile accumulation, cardholders can look forward to a minimum discount of 10% on all United flight award tickets booked through the MileagePlus program. For those who hold MileagePlus Premier® status, the discount increases to at least 15%. This tiered approach rewards loyalty and encourages frequent travel with United Airlines.

Moreover, general MileagePlus members who possess a United credit or debit card will now have access to Saver Award inventory in United Polaris® Business Class, a privilege previously reserved for Platinum and 1K members. Under the new arrangement, Polaris Saver Award seats can be purchased for as little as 72,000 miles—reflecting a 10% discount for general cardholders—or 68,000 miles for those with Premier status, representing a 15% savings.

Andrew Nocella, United Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the advantages of being a MileagePlus member and the enhanced value of the airline’s credit and debit cards. “The most rewarding way to fly United is as a MileagePlus member, and the best way to get the most value from the MileagePlus program is to have one of our credit or debit cards,” he stated. Nocella highlighted that the program is designed to reward loyalty, ensuring that the airline’s best customers receive the most compelling benefits available.

These new offerings underscore United Airlines’ commitment to providing exceptional value to its customers through the MileagePlus program. As the airline continues to adapt its services to meet the needs of travelers, these enhancements are likely to attract new members and retain existing customers, strengthening loyalty to the United brand.
