Former star of *Lord of the Dance*, Olivia Graydon, is set to take center stage in the new dance show *Emerald Storm*, which merges Irish dance with modern tap. The production makes its debut at The Emerald Theatre in London and is poised to captivate audiences with its unique blend of traditional and contemporary styles. Following a successful run in September, the show will also embark on a UK tour in 2024.

*Emerald Storm* promises an electrifying experience, featuring a vibrant soundtrack that showcases some of the most celebrated Irish bands. The show is co-written and co-choreographed by acclaimed tap dancer and West End star Adam Garcia, known for his work in productions like *The Bodyguard* and *A Chorus Line*. Joining Graydon in the cast are talents such as Tom Ball from *Britain’s Got Talent* and New Zealand’s dance prodigy Bayley Graham.

A Unique Dance Experience

Graydon, who hails from Barking in East London, is eager to return to the stage after her previous tour with the show in 2023. She honed her skills at the prestigious Maguire O’Shea Academy of Irish Dancing, leading to her career highlight of performing in *Lord of the Dance*. In a recent conversation with *The Irish World*, Graydon expressed her excitement, stating, “I think it’s just such a different take on Irish dancing and Irish culture, combining Irish and tap in a real different way than what we’ve seen before.”

The creator of *Emerald Storm*, Duncan Heather, emphasized the innovative nature of the production, noting that dancers transitioning from traditional shows like *Lord of the Dance* must adapt to a new style. “If they’re coming to the show expecting *Lord of the Dance* or *Riverdance*, then that’s not what *Emerald Storm* is,” Heather explained. “Adam Garcia and Sam Heather have really created a new genre of dance that layers traditional Irish with various styles.”

A Call for Audience Participation

Graydon anticipates an enthusiastic audience response, with the immersive atmosphere of the theatre enhancing the experience. “Irish dance is all about the craic anyway, so we’re gonna really try and bring that out into the audience,” she said. The show encourages audience members to join in the fun by bringing their own dance shoes for a post-show jam session, a concept that blends both Irish and tap dance traditions.

Reflecting on her journey, Graydon shared that her passion for dance began at an early age, inspired by Michael Flatley. “I started dancing when I was four because I watched Michael Flatley on VHS,” she recalled. “It was my dream come true to perform alongside him.” After a decade with *Lord of the Dance*, she feels a sense of fulfillment and is eager to explore new challenges with *Emerald Storm*.

The cast’s camaraderie fuels their excitement for the show’s potential success. Graydon remarked, “I feel like all of the stars are aligned for this show,” highlighting the high energy and infectious spirit that the team brings during rehearsals. She believes that *Emerald Storm* has the potential to become a long-running staple in the world of dance theatre, stating, “This show is so special. I think there’s just an excitement bubbling through it.”

*Emerald Storm* is set to run at The Emerald Theatre until 14 December 2025. For tickets and additional information, interested audiences can visit the theatre’s official website.
