Neg8 Carbon Partners with Prochem Engineering for Carbon Capture Project
On January 16, 2026, Neg8 Carbon announced a significant partnership with Prochem Engineering, an engineering consultancy based in Kilkenny, to develop specifications for Ireland’s inaugural full-scale carbon capture system. This initiative marks a crucial step in the implementation of Neg8 Carbon‘s direct air capture (DAC) technology, which is designed to mitigate climate change by efficiently capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Details of the Carbon Capture System
The first module of the DAC technology will be established at Neg8 Carbon‘s headquarters in Waterford. It is projected to capture approximately 50 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. This project aims to enhance the effectiveness and affordability of DAC solutions, thereby facilitating their scalability as Neg8 Carbon prepares for commercial deployment on an international scale.
Neg8 Carbon is known for its innovative approach to carbon capture, specializing in electrostatic technology. This method draws in air and channels it through a specially designed sorbent system that effectively attracts and retains carbon dioxide molecules. The captured carbon can be either stored underground permanently or transformed into sustainable products, including climate-neutral aviation fuel.

Dr. John Breen, Chief Technology Officer at Neg8 Carbon, expressed optimism regarding the project, stating, “The 50 tonne per annum unit will serve to validate Neg8‘s system as a leading engineered carbon capture technology that will support industries and governments in their drive to net-zero and beyond to negative carbon emissions.”
