URGENT UPDATE: Investigators have just completed an initial examination at the site of a fatal plane crash in Waterford, Ireland, where one person tragically lost their life. Emergency responders, including rescue helicopters and police, rushed to Lisselan near Tramore shortly after the light aircraft went down at approximately 12:50 PM on July 13, 2023.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) confirmed that the aircraft involved was a twin-engined general aviation aircraft, identified as a privately owned Vulcanair P68C. Initial reports indicate that the victim was the sole occupant of the plane, according to An Garda Siochana.

The AAIU deployed four air accident inspectors to the site, and their examination was completed by 9:00 PM the same day. The team has since exited the site but plans to return on Friday morning to recover the wreckage for further analysis at the AAIU’s facility in Gormanston, Co Meath.

Flight tracking data reveals that the Vulcanair P68C was en route from Sligo to Beziers, France when it turned back towards Waterford Airport before the crash occurred.

Local representatives are reeling from the incident. Sinn Fein TD for Waterford, David Cullinane, expressed the community’s shock, stating that their thoughts are with the victim and their loved ones.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. Stay tuned for the latest updates as this story develops.
