Dua Lipa and Electric Picnic Drive MCD Productions to $210 Million in Ticket Sales
MCD Productions achieved remarkable ticket sales of $210 million (€180 million) in 2025, largely due to stellar performances by Dua Lipa at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and various artists at the Electric Picnic festival. According to figures released by the trade journal Pollstar, MCD sold 2.56 million tickets during the year, positioning the company as the 14th largest promoter globally.
Despite this strong performance, ticket sales declined by 12 percent from the previous year’s record of 2.92 million tickets. The festival Electric Picnic, which featured headliners such as Hozier and Chappell Roan, contributed significantly to MCD’s total, generating a box office of $18.19 million (€15.6 million) from attendees at Stradbally in County Laois. Notably, this year’s Electric Picnic is already sold out.
The Pollstar report highlights that Hozier’s concerts alone generated $44 million (€37.7 million), with the artist performing to 555,848 fans across 28 shows in 2025. However, box office figures for the highly anticipated concerts by Oasis at Croke Park in Dublin this August are currently unavailable, as the band did not submit their ticket sales data to Pollstar.
Pollstar estimates that Oasis’s global tour last year earned approximately $405 million (€347 million), averaging around $11.2 million (€9.6 million) per concert. The average ticket price for these events was around $181 (€155).
Concerns regarding ticket sales practices have arisen, particularly around the dynamic pricing model employed by Ticketmaster Ireland. In September 2024, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) initiated an investigation into Ticketmaster’s handling of Oasis ticket sales, prompted by over 100 complaints from fans about pricing strategies.
European Parliament member Regina Doherty recently expressed frustration over the investigation’s prolonged duration, stating, “Oasis have completed an entire world tour, and we’ve yet to hear a peep from the investigation. Fans were promised answers after the Oasis controversy, not a process that drags on endlessly behind closed doors.”
In response to inquiries, a spokesperson for the CCPC noted, “As the CCPC’s investigation is ongoing, we are unable to provide further information at this time. We will offer an update when in a position to do so.”
As the live music industry continues to adapt to evolving ticketing landscapes and consumer expectations, the strong performance of MCD Productions underscores the enduring popularity of major artists and festivals in driving significant revenue.
