University of Limerick Launches Global Recruitment Initiative for Researchers

The University of Limerick (UL) is set to invest several million euros in a comprehensive global recruitment campaign aimed at attracting top-tier research talent. Announced on February 9, 2026, the initiative, named UL Changemakers, focuses on bringing exceptional researchers to the region who are eager to innovate and lead in various fields.

This campaign will initially open 35 academic positions across the university in diverse disciplines, including social justice, democratic resilience, artificial intelligence, pharmaceutical science, health services research, and sustainable electrical engineering, among others. The initiative reflects UL’s commitment to enhancing its research capabilities while fostering an inclusive community for academics from around the world.

Professor Shane Kilcommins, the Acting President of the University of Limerick, emphasized the significance of this recruitment drive. He stated, “UL Changemakers represents a bold and necessary investment in the power of research to shape a better future.” He highlighted that world-class scholarship not only advances knowledge but also informs policy and strengthens communities.
